Susan Motley is a strong manager who has run her own business and knows the importance of making every tax dollar go as far as possible. She will make sure the City of Irving is making sound budget decisions and allocating funds for the services residents expect.
One of the key responsibilities of the Irving City Council is making sure that the city government does its most fundamental job: provision of quality city services. Susan Motley will make sure we have reliable services from public safety, to emergency response, parks and recreation, code enforcement, street and sidewalk repair, and the rest.
Susan Motley understands that every resident of Irving deserves to feel safe at work, at home and at play. She will make sure the city is supporting public safety and other important services such as fire and emergency response.
Susan will push for police to protect our youth from sex traffickers and other predators, increase patrolling to reduce theft and dangerous crimes in our neighborhoods and parks, and increase enforcement of traffic laws to reduce speeding, running of red lights, and other dangerous driving behavior.
Susan will work to reduce wasteful spending to keep costs down. That means evaluating our budget priorities so that we are spending money on the most important needs. It also means making sure city operations are efficient and cost-effective.
Susan will beautify neighborhoods by improving code enforcement. That means things like making sure lawns are mowed, streets and alleys are cleaned up, and parking rules are followed. It also means ensuring complaints are timely addressed and rules are fairly applied.
Susan will work for a real solution to the homeless problem in a way that saves you tax dollars and that closes the "revolving door" of homelessness. Doing nothing, as her opponent suggests, is not the answer. Simply arresting and jailing the homeless creates a revolving door that brings the same individuals back to our streets and costs
Susan will work for a real solution to the homeless problem in a way that saves you tax dollars and that closes the "revolving door" of homelessness. Doing nothing, as her opponent suggests, is not the answer. Simply arresting and jailing the homeless creates a revolving door that brings the same individuals back to our streets and costs YOU much more as a taxpayer than a real solution would. Susan doesn't think Irving should solve the problem alone and supports a central, county-led solution that transfers homeless persons into services administered by the county and through partnering with local non-profits.
